Research Blog : Commercial Conventions

My group is doing a Prime Hydration advertisement. Prime Hydration is a rather new brand, so they don’t yet have many good commercials to use as inspiration. Instead of researching Prime Hydration, we researched similar brands. Prime is an energy drink, much like Gatorade and Powerade. Nearly all Gatorade commercials focus on sports as a main theme. This usually includes popular and well-known sports like football, basketball, and track and field. Gatorade commercials often begin with athletes training, while drinking Gatorade to stay hydrated and energized. It later cuts to game day when these athletes are winning in whatever sport they are playing. Gatorade commercials use props like balls, sports attire, and the Gatorade itself. The Prime Hydration commercials that have been made often focus on the bottle itself, so that aspect could also be incorporated into our commercial. Lots of sports drink commercials have a slogan or something that people remember and compare to the brand. Even though prime is one of many energy drinks it doesn't have a slogan. Lots of energy drink commercials have a star athlete. An example of this is Michael Jordan in the Gatorade commercial “Like Mike”. The reason they do this is, so you use the product just like your favorite athletes to be just like them. There are many sport drink commercials all with different lengths. Some short and straight to the point and some long telling a whole story. For this assignment we must do a short commercial. All the short commercials I have seen have been straight to the point. The commercials are straight to the point talking about all the benefits of the drink. As you can see Prime hydration is one of many sports drinks.

Editing for My Final Task

  Welcome back to my blog! Today, I'm excited to talk about the editing process for my final task. Unlike last year, where I had a lot of help from my group, this year I'm alone. Last year, Rhys from my group took charge of most of the editing, and the video turned out great. However, this time around, I don't have that luxury. So, I had to figure it out on my own and I learned some new skills in the process. First things first, I scouted out different software options for editing. Many required payment or personal information. I then stumbled upon CapCut, which turned out to be a great choice. Once I imported my clips and added them to the software, along with the opening credits I'd already prepared, I was surprised to find that my footage exceeded five minutes. Production Blog: Planning

  Welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will talk about the planning process that took place. My group mates and I worked very hard to plan out our final project. There were many steps that were involved in making our final project. One of the major things that we had to do was our storyboard. The storyboard is a scene-by-scene depiction of what we are going to film. This is very helpful when filming because we have something to go off of rather than just trying to throw it all together last minute. Another thing that was really helpful when planning was our title research because we were able to find similar movies and look at their opening scenes in order to get ideas of what we would like to do. This also helped with the storyboard because we were able to decide where to embed titles. It is very important to consider placement of where these titles should go.
