Day 3 of Filming!

Image
Welcome back to my blog! Today, I'm thrilled to share about the final day of filming for my short film. It's been quite a journey, and I'm so excited to see it all come together. Day 3 was a bit easier compared to the previous days since I didn’t need any actors besides myself and the shots weren't too difficult. But don't let that fool you. It was still a crucial day because these shots were most important in telling the story and setting up the ending. I started off the day by setting the scene for my film where I was driving to the Pickleball courts to meet my friends, feeling rushed and in a hurry. This rush led to some trouble when I went to hang up my bag and it ended up falling. It was a bit chaotic because my bag ended up falling behind someone else's, making it hard for me to spot. When filming each element I was focused to make sure the camera angles added to the storyline. As the story continued, despite the mishap, I continued playing pickleball, but

Filming Day 2 Setbacks

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today, I'm excited to share about day two of filming. It was the first day with actors, which meant we could add more dialogue and sound to the scenes. Before we started, I updated my storyboard with some tougher shots. When I showed my plans to my actor, we ran into a little problem. She didn't know how to ride a scooter for the scenes! It was unexpected, but we didn't let it stop us. Instead, I took the time to teach her how to ride the scooter. We started with the basics, like balancing and pushing off, and gradually worked our way up to more advanced moves. It took a lot of practice, but she was determined to get it right. As her confidence grew, so did her skills on the scooter. It was really rewarding to see her progress throughout the day. Despite the initial setback, her dedication and perseverance paid off in the end. Of course, teaching her how to ride the scooter did take up quite a bit of time. We had to adjust our filming

Day 1 Filming and Editing

Welcome back to my blog! Today, I want to tell you all about my first day of filming and a bit about editing too. But before I get into that, let me tell you what I had to do to get ready. So, before I could even start filming, I had to gather up all my stuff, props, equipment, and everything else. Once I had everything together, it was finally time to start filming! The very first thing I did was work on my opening credits. Let me tell you, those shots were tough! I had to make sure they fit perfectly into my film. That's where my storyboard came in handy. It was like a guide that helped me figure out how to shoot each scene. Since I didn't have any help at that time, I decided to start with the scenes I could do on my own. Those shots weren't as hard because they didn't have as much movement as some of the other scenes. After I knocked those shots out I finally had some help. This meant I could start doing some of the more difficult shots for my opening credits. Thes

Website and Postcard Production Blogs

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will be talking about the process of making my website and postcard. This aspect of the project was a lot of fun because it was a new thing that we did not do in AS level. I first started with my website so I could later include that in my postcard. I used a website generator to make my website. I started with making an account and filling out all of the proper information. After that I had to start making posts about this short film and the process for making it. Then I finally got to the fun part, making the home page and designing my website. For the home page I used a picture and name of my movie with text on how to learn more about my film. I filled out all of the information on the website and then created social media accounts to include on the website. In these accounts I could post about the film, my website and postcard. I only had the ability to open two accounts a Twitter and an Instagram. I then started working on my postcard. For th

I Made a Huge Mistake!

Welcome back to my blog. The title should tell you every thing. I'm feeling a bit stupid because I've made a huge mistake. Let me give you some context. Last year, for our final project, my group and I split filming between spring break and afterward. This year I assumed the same schedule and deadlines would apply. I was so wrong! My entire project hinged on my spring break plans. I didn't even bother to check the due date. I know what you are going to say "What were you thinking?" Trust me, I've been asking myself the same question. Now, I'm forced to fall back on my backup plan, which isn't exactly what I had in mind, but I will make it work. It's back to the planning and storyboard for me. On the bright side, I did manage to start filming my opening scene, so it's not a complete disaster. I can't help but feel frustrated with myself for this oversight. It's a lesson learned the hard way. I'll definitely be more observant in check

Production Blog: Planning Blog Difficultly

Image
Welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will talk about my planning blog. This was the second hardest part of my whole final task behind the storyboard which I will talk about next blog. To start off, my planning blog is one of the biggest parts of planning. First off, I had to create a schedule. My time frame was only a week long because I am filming over spring break. I feel confident I can get this done because I will film one fourth of the project in Florida and start the editing process. The location was easy because I had already thought that out. I will be filming in Florida and Colorado. The participants were difficult because I would be on vacation with my family. So, in the beginning I was going to use them, but then I got the good news 3 of my friends were coming also, so I will use them instead. One of the biggest considerations for filming in Colorado is the protection of my actors. For health and safety my actors will wear helmets and protective clothing. There are many p

Production Blog: Planning For My Final Project

Image
Welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will go over the planning process for my final task. There was a lot of components that had to be put into action to finish the planning for my final task. First, I had to pick groupmates. This was a very difficult decision for me because of past experiences. Last year for my final task one of my groupmates did not work hard and my other groupmate and I had to pick up the slack. When it came time to film my reliable friend ended up breaking has wrist so he could not do reshoots. This caused use to have to completely restart filming. In the end I ended up doing almost all of the work. I can't complain though because I ended up passing. For these reasons I chose to work alone for these projects. The next thing I had to do was make a pitch and pick a genre. The good thing about working alone is I get to use my own ideas. This way I am more passionate about this final project. For my pitch I wanted to do an action short film with a fight scene.
