  1.        My product uses conventions by showing a skinny guy working out. He then uses the PRIME energy drink product and becomes stronger than the bigger guy. Our commercial represents groups who are interested in being athletes or improving their strength and energy levels. 2.        Our product engages with audiences by connecting with those who wish to be stronger. As a real media text, we would distribute this commercial on social media. We could target people who identify as athletes or are focused on strength training. 3.        My production skills developed throughout this project because I had real world experience creating a commercial from start to finish. I learned to always plan out the commercial thoroughly on a storyboard. I also learned to make sure props are positioned correctly and camera angles work for the shot. One skill I really developed was finding locations for filming. Before this project, I didn’t think about all of the things you need to consider whe

This is the final commercial we have produced. We started this project in late September, and since then me and my team have been working towards this. It has taken about a month in total to get to this point. Throughout this process things were not easy, but I am proud of the final product. Despite this, there are things that we could have been improved upon. First of all , there are things that could have been made clearer. We included a pan in the commercial, but it is hard to notice. A lot of this may have come down to camerawork that needs improving. With some work, I think me, and my teammates be much better at showing exactly what we intended. Another thing that could have been improved upon was the acting. While it is separate from filming and editing, acting is still something of great significance. I feel as if we neglected acting in this production. One main issue was that we did not practice acting before we started filming. On top of that, we came up with our script on t

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog we will talk about editing portion of our commercial. After filming Luc had to leave for some event. So me and Rhys went to his house to edit. We walked along a path where his mom picked us up and drove us to his house. After getting some water we went straight to work in his room. Rhys already had a editing software downloaded that we could use to quickly drop our videos into the software. There was a problem because all of our videos from the park were together with random videos that he made on his own. After sorting them out we drop them in and realized all of them combined were over 45 second long. After cutting it down a lot we still had about 33 seconds left. So we decided we would cut a whole scene to make a room. we added music in the background that we had picked out. We also included a voice over of me saying prime hydration at the end. The reason we did this was because we felt they needed to be more talking in the video. We messed aro

Welcome back to my blog.  In this blog I will be talking about the filming portion of our commercial. I was the first to get to our filming site, so I started scouting locations while I waited for Rush and Luc. Once they got there we sat down and discussed our game plan. We decided on a background with a lot of trees. We chose that because we wanted to make sure their weren’t any people or other distractions in the background to take your eye of the shots.  After our first shot we realized we had a big problem. We were right in the middle of a disc golf hole, with people waiting to throw. We had to stop filming for at least five minutes. We still decided to stay there to shoot our commercial because we loved how the background looked on camera. We just paid attention to when people came up to golf and stopped to let them play. We filmed two more scenes before more golfers came. While we waited for the golfers to play we used our wisely. We moved our stuff to a park bench to film the s

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will talk about what we did to prepare to film the commercial and why we made the decisions we did. The first step in our project was to make sure we had all of our props, costumes, actors and a camera. We also needed to find a location to film. We brainstormed a list of possible props and locations. We tried to use things we already had, for instance one of the actors in the commercial had boxing gloves already. We ended up using those instead of buying new ones. After we decided that we were going to use his gloves we decided who would buy the energy drink. We decided I would buy the energy drink because of the store which had it in stock was closest to me. Prime energy drink is very hard to find right now. It was lucky that a store near me had it. Once we figured out what props we needed., we had to decide on a good location to film. We chose Snyder Park because two of my groupmates lived 5 minutes from there, so it was easy to get to for th

Storyboard for my PRIME commercial

Storyboard Blog   First scene: T he fir st scene will be a wide shot showing Subject A and Subject B boxing. The shot will show both characters and the environment around them . The camera will stay relatively still during this scene without any camera movements.     Second scene: T he second scene shows the POV of subject B  over subject A . This is a high angle that shows that subject B is more powerful than subject A .     Third scene: In the third scene, the camera tracks subject A as he angrily and disappointedly rips off his boxing gloves and walks away from where he was boxing.     Fourth scene: This scene will be a medium close-up of Subject A drinking Prime Hydration. This shows Subject A f rom the torso to the top of the head . This scene will also attempt to draw attention to the  Prime logo as he drinks.     Fifth scene: In the fifth scene there is a wide shot that shows su bject A sending subject B flying backwards. Subject B will be launched due to force from sub
