Planning- The Core of the Filming Process

Schedule

For this short film my filming schedule will be 3/22/24 – 3/30/24 for many of the scenes. The reason for this is because I am filming my short film in Colorado over spring break. My plan is to film the opening credit parts in Florida, I can then edit them to see the amount of time I need to fill up in Colorado. 

Location

The locations for this film will be at my house in Florida and on the mountains in Colorado. The Colorado location is a popular ski resort that I go to every year twice a year. For this reason I feel it will be easy for me to navigate where to shoot for my film.

Participants

For this film I will need at least 4 actors. My family has decided they can help and there may be a couple of friends who are also coming to Colorado.

Health and Safety

Health and safety is very important especially in an action film. I agree that helmets and protective jackets must be worn. This is in case of falls when skiing. I also want to make sure the people around us are safe when filming.

Props

Some props we will use are snowboards and skis. We will also use suitcases and cars.

Costumes

The clothes we will be wearing are regular clothes for the first half. Once on the mountain we will use protective jackets and helmets. 

Back Up Plans

For this film it is tricky to have a backup plan because if we can’t get to Colorado to film the plan won’t work. I had the idea of still having the same concept but on land not snow. We would use skateboards and not snowboards.

Editing for My Final Task

  Welcome back to my blog! Today, I'm excited to talk about the editing process for my final task. Unlike last year, where I had a lot of help from my group, this year I'm alone. Last year, Rhys from my group took charge of most of the editing, and the video turned out great. However, this time around, I don't have that luxury. So, I had to figure it out on my own and I learned some new skills in the process. First things first, I scouted out different software options for editing. Many required payment or personal information. I then stumbled upon CapCut, which turned out to be a great choice. Once I imported my clips and added them to the software, along with the opening credits I'd already prepared, I was surprised to find that my footage exceeded five minutes. Production Blog: Planning

  Welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will talk about the planning process that took place. My group mates and I worked very hard to plan out our final project. There were many steps that were involved in making our final project. One of the major things that we had to do was our storyboard. The storyboard is a scene-by-scene depiction of what we are going to film. This is very helpful when filming because we have something to go off of rather than just trying to throw it all together last minute. Another thing that was really helpful when planning was our title research because we were able to find similar movies and look at their opening scenes in order to get ideas of what we would like to do. This also helped with the storyboard because we were able to decide where to embed titles. It is very important to consider placement of where these titles should go.
